I am involved in many international standards activities on cyber security of industrial control systems including my position as Managing Director of ISA99 - Industrial Automation and Control System Cyber Security.

Barreto is a Brazilian Air Force (BAF) Lieutenant-colonel and a Deputy Director of Research and Development in the Instituto de Controle do Espaço Aéreo (Brazil). Dr Barreto’s research is concentrated on Measuring Cyber Impact on the Mission and Integration of Cyber & Operational's Simulators. He has involved in the definition of cyber politics to protect Brazilian Air Traffic Control and Methodologies to evaluate Cyber Exercises.
